Tiny Tom’s Donuts

7323 Woodbine Ave
(Denison & Woodbine)
www.tinytomdonuts.com

I was surprised to see a Tiny Tom’s up in Markham (totally off CNE grounds), I had to run in and buy a dozen … or two. As soon as I popped the first tiny donut in my mouth, I thought about the happier (and warmer days) at the Ex and how much I miss summer. Somehow, the warm Apple-and-Cinnamon sprinkled donut tasted better than I remember!

Flavours: Sugar Icing, Cinnamon, Apple & Cinnamon, Chocolate
Price: $3.75/dozen
Special: Buy two dozen and get the third one free!

This is a great dim sum restaurant to dine at if you are with a large group. The venue is so big I’ve never had to wait in line. The food is okay but I appreciate the space (lots of room between tables), which is uncommon for most Chinese restaurants. While you’re there, I recommend checking out the shops (Bowring Outlet, Roots Outlet, etc) and malls (First Markham Place) nearby.

Recommendations
• Dim sum favourites including rice rolls (shrimp, beef or BBQ pork), egg tarts, fried calamari, chrysanthemum tea, leaf wrapped sticky rice

Good to Know
• Best seats: Anywhere in the main dining room
• Service: Good
• Atmosphere: Big venue; spacious; beautiful chandeliers, TV screens installed in several spots (mainly for ads)
• Ideal for: large parties, family gatherings, casual,
• Attire: Casual
• Reservations recommended: N/A
• Patio recommended: N/A
• Parking: Big parking lot in the plaza but even so, it is hard to find a spot on the weekends (you need to be very patient … or fast to react!)

One of my favourite Chinese Dim Sum restaurants in town!

Recommendations
• Baked chicken pie with coconut sprinkles – very tasty! (This is not on the menu. It is only offered on the weekends between 11am to 1pm. A server walks around the restaurant with a tray, introducing it to each table. Once they are gone, they’re gone.)
• Deep fried octopus tentacles
• Tempura glutinous rice with pork, bean and salty egg filling
• Fresh fruit mango roll
• Baked egg custard tarts
• Chrysanthemum tea
• We also recommend you share (as Chinese Dim Sum dishes are traditionally shared) to enjoy the full experience.

Good to Know
• Best seats: Anywhere in the main dining room (The smaller room on the left when you walk in can be too bright and stuffy.)
